Woman's in agriculture
When all mens went out in war, the also stepped into agriculture. A forced called AWLA(Australia Woman Land Army) volunteer to be sent outside the city to do men's jobs on farms, such as ploughing, harvesting, milking cows. Many australian thought it was impossible and ridiculous but they were essential in keeping up the food supply of Australia. It was thanks to Australian womans that we were able to have enought food supply during WW2.
Nurse
AANS(Australian Army Nursing Service) were one of the major nursing service through our the WW2. AANS served in England, Egypt, Palestine, Libya, Greece, Syria, Ceylon, Malaya, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Island as well as throughout Australia (mostly singapore). It was a hard job becasue the service was done in hospital ships, troop transports, base and camp hospitals. Being in AANS was a very dangerose job, there were many incident and attacks aimed for nurses. When exactly 194265 Nurses were evacuated on a ship Vyner Brooke. It was bombed and sunk by the Japanes. Another group of 22 nurses, captured by the Japanese on the Indonesian island of Banka, were killed by a gun. Being involved in AANS was a very dangerose and hard work, and was not paid very well but they've been a huge role in WW2.
Woman's role in combat forces
Australian woman have been a big role in WW1, they surported the food supplys, clothes, funds and even hospitaliy service but they were not patisipated in any military jobs. But in WW2, the milliary service needed more hands then they expected. And the womans were hired for technical jobs which were done by mens. Each branch had their auxiliary corps for women, they not included in combat frces but when more hands were needed they were send overseas( usually New Guinea) and did jobs like anti-aircraft gunners, drivers, mechanics, and radio operators.
After the WW2
After the WW2, in 1945, it was obvious for many that Australian woman contirbution was a massive role to winning the war and it would be better for them to be more involved in the sociality of Australia. Mens acknowledged jobs done by womans and they were given equal rights as mens. They were given the right to vote, and soon women were elected to the parliament and even became heads of nations. In the domestic front, the divorce laws were made simpler and they were given substantial benefits in case of divorce. Professionally they competed with their male counterparts for all
